So why does everything happen when Todd is gone?

So yesterday was an interesting day. It started out fairly normal, windy, but normal. But then...

I was sitting on the sofa in the afternoon and all of the sudden I smelled something a bit "off". After wondering about the smell for about 10 seconds and it was getting stronger I decided to go investigate. Upon walking through the dinning room into my kitchen I discovered the smell. My darling little Brighton had pulled a chair from the table to the kitchen. He was standing on it beside the stove pointing and saying "Hot!" He had placed his sippy cup on the element and had turned the ring on! He had also turned on the back element that had a dish towel on it that I had used to take something out of the oven with. When I walked into the kitchen the dish towel was smoking and the sippy cup was melting into a pile of black charred goo. I grabbed the towel and stuck it under the running water, and as soon as I turned back around the sippy cup lit on fire. Luckily I had baking soda handy and everything went out fine. And on the plus side, I am glad Brighton knows well enough to not actually touch things that are hot. Weird thing is that the smoke detector didn't go off, but when you press the "test" button it works. The thing used to go off when I even slightly over browned toast, but when something actually lites on fire... NOTHING! Time to get a new detector...

So I mentioned earlier that it was a windy day. That was an understatement. In the night we had winds up to 110km. It was insane! In the middle of the night the wind decided to wreak havoc on my trees. The one closest to my house and close to my bedroom decided to break. So in the middle of the night I hear a huge BANG!! Luckily it didn't take any of the shingles off and seems to not have done much, if any, damage to the house. Luckily a nice neighbor of mine took the broken piece to the dump for me, as I wasn't sure what the heck I was going to do with it. He also got on the roof to make sure it didn't take any of my shingles down with it. I have to admit I live in a good town. I really do like it here.

Well today has been fairly uneventful luckily. Hopefully nothing will happen until Todd gets home... not sure if I can handle any more fires :)
